Rookies Named to the All NBA 1st Team

Making the All NBA 1st Team in your rookie year is no easy feat - going back to 1950, it's only been done 9 times, and only twice in the modern era.

Here are the nine players that were named to the vaulted All NBA 1st Team in their rookie season (in reverse chronological order):
  • Tim Duncan, 1998
  • Larry Bird, 1980
  • Wes Unseld, 1969
  • Rick Barry, 1966
  • Oscar Robertson, 1961
  • Wilt Chamberlain, 1960
  • Elgin Baylor, 1959
  • Bob Pettit, 1955
  • Alex Groza, 1950
With players entering the NBA at a younger average age these days, it's highly unlikely we'll ever see another rookie named to the All NBA 1st Team.
